Sendan no Futaba
A moment to unwind in the city.
Sendan no Futaba in Koto Ward's Higashisuna neighborhood is a calm kissaten offering Japanese greens, black teas, house-roasted coffees, and light meals.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Step past the inviting facade of Sendan no Futaba, which feels much like an everyday private home, and you are welcomed into a warm, gently paced kissaten. A neighborhood favorite for unwinding, the shop surprises first-time visitors with an expansive drink menu far broader than that of a typical local cafe.
The tea selection spans Japanese specialties such as Yame tea, sencha genmaicha, and premium roasted hojicha, alongside familiar black teas including Earl Grey, Assam, and Mango Dream, as well as herbal blends like lemongrass and rosehip. Whether served by the pot or whisked into a mellow matcha or hojicha latte, there is something suited to nearly any mood.
The coffee program is treated with equal care, featuring house-roasted beans across signature house blends and rotating single origins—ranging from Ethiopia and Brazil to Mandheling—each highlighting different roast profiles. A full-bodied cup pairs neatly with the desserts waiting in the glass display case, such as Mont Blanc, chocolate mousse, or strawberry and raspberry mousse, all balanced with a restrained sweetness.
Beyond drinks and sweets, the kitchen prepares light lunches, including toast options and a cha-soba set paired with a recommended Japanese green tea. With relaxed table service, it makes a pleasant setting to pause for a carefully brewed cup in the middle of the day.
